Startup Weekend recruits a highly motivated group of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more to a 54 hour event that builds communities, companies and projects. It is an amazing opportunity to connect with other passionate and skilled individuals, and perhaps even find a co-founder or two to transform your idea into reality.

Imagine if the likes of Richard Branson, Nelson Mandela, Mohammad Yunus, Henry Ford, Albert Einstein, and Martin Luther King came together to develop solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. Now stop imagining. That’s what we do with 25 of the world’s most promising entrepreneurs and 60 expert mentors from around the world at our intensive 8-week institute. Our secret sauce? Everyone lives under the same roof and shares 3 meals a day.

Dharamsala Animal Rescue was founded in 2009 to help the street dogs of India and to help protect the people of Dharmsala from rabies. Since 2009, they have sterilized and vaccinated approximately 1000 dogs. The dogs then go back onto the streets to live to fend for themselves. We are seeing an uptick in puppy adoptions which is great.

By undertaking significant outdoor challenges, Veterans Expeditions will prove to those participating and those observing, that military veterans are capable of contributing to a team’s greater strength and accomplishing a difficult mission, regardless of any existing or perceived mental or physical disability. These expeditions show the strength of veterans and hope to significantly address and perhaps reverse the disappointing trends in the veteran population of higher rates of homelessness, unemployment, drug use, incarceration, and suicide compared to the non-veteran population.

The Cottonwood Institute was founded in 2004 to inspire young people to initiate positive change in their schools, their communities, and the environment in order to strengthen their civic engagement, environmental stewardship, and leadership skills.
