The Role

As the Software Development Manager at hybris software you will be responsible for leading an agile, self-managed engineering team working on a client-side javascript application.  As a servant-leader you will be accountable to your team, responsible for their success and development.  Your background as a software engineer will aid your team through the removal of roadblocks, identifying/providing the appropriate tools, and continuously looking for opportunities to optimize the process and improve productivity.  When the time comes that you identify the need to add additional engineers to your team, it will be you that builds the case, gains approval, and plays a key role in the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of the new member of your team.

The Responsibilities

  • Manager –  Experienced Manager of agile software engineering teams
  • Communicator – facilitate communication with other teams as necessary
  • Allocator – ensure that resources are distributed appropriately amongst the teams
  • Recruiter – actively lead and participate in recruitment and onboarding of new talent
  • Leader – work diligently to continually develop and retain your talent

The Requirements

  • 15+ years as a hands on software engineer
  • Working with JS, node, HTML, CSS,  java, Spring, Maven, Git, REST
  • 5+ years experience building and managing teams of engineers
  • Ability to articulate well, up and down the organizational chain
  • Proven success leading and participating in teams to deliver quality software
  • Experience working with distributed teams around the globe, in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience recruiting and on-boarding staff
  • Functional knowledge of Agile methods and practices
  • Proven success to handle full line management responsibilities for software engineering teams
  • The personality to provide empowerment without micromanagement
  • BA/BS degree (7+ years of degree relevant experience)
